Heavy, sturdy, hot... They are called "Boatancors" because of their weight. Usually 60pound and more. In the pre-satellite-communication times, they served as the connection to the homeland. On vessels, trade missions or military operations. Buildt to last. Under the worst circumstances. Reliable.

This USA built communications receiver, was considered as the "Best Receiver of the World" during the vacuumtube era.
